Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using OpusDraft (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and OpusDraft, LLC (“OpusDraft,” “we,” “us,” “our”), a Louisiana limited liability company. We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated” date above when material changes occur. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Description of Service
OpusDraft is an AI-assisted writing platform that provides editing, canon management, and rule-enforcement tools for long-form writers — including fiction authors, ghostwriters, screenwriters, nonfiction writers, sermon preparers, keynote speakers, and pitch deck authors. The Service operates on a subscription basis with tiered access levels, with a limited free trial available to new accounts.
All paid tiers operate on a Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK) model: you supply your own Anthropic Claude API key, and your AI tool requests connect directly to Anthropic’s API under your own account. The free trial is the only context in which OpusDraft processes AI calls under its own Anthropic account (“Instant Mode” — see Section 12).
Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) — API Keys
By providing your API key to OpusDraft, you authorize us to use that key solely to process your AI tool requests within the platform. We do not use your key for any other purpose. Your key is stored encrypted at rest using AES-256 and is masked in the user interface after saving.
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your API key.
- All API costs incurred through your key while using OpusDraft.
- Monitoring your Anthropic account for unauthorized usage.
- Compliance with Anthropic’s Terms of Service.
If you believe your key has been compromised, revoke it immediately at console.anthropic.com and update your OpusDraft account with a new key.
Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You may not share your account with others or use another person’s account without permission. Each individual user requires a separate account.
Your Content
You retain all ownership rights to the writing, canon entries, rule packs, style guides, and other content you create within OpusDraft (“Your Content”). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, transmit, and process Your Content solely to provide the Service to you.
We do not use Your Content to train AI models. We do not sell, license, or share Your Content with any third party except as required to provide the Service (see Section 07) or as required by law.
You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to any content you upload, create, or generate within the Service, and that Your Content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.
Data Backup — Your Responsibility
We strongly recommend exporting local copies of your manuscripts, canon, and rule packs at the close of each writing session. OpusDraft’s “Download my data” feature in Settings → Account produces a complete ZIP backup of all projects, chapters, canon entries, and writing setup; we recommend running it regularly.
OpusDraft auto-saves on chapter navigation and at scheduled intervals during editing, but manual saves and local backups remain your best protection against unexpected data loss. OpusDraft shall not be liable for any loss of content, data, or creative work resulting from technical failures, errors, or service interruptions.
Service Providers and Third-Party Processors
OpusDraft relies on the following third-party service providers to operate the Service. Each is bound by its own terms and privacy practices, which apply independently of these Terms:
- Anthropic — AI processing (your prompts, including any context from Your Content the tool requires, are transmitted to Anthropic when you use AI tools).
- Stripe — Subscription billing and payment processing.
- Supabase — Database hosting with row-level security.
- Vercel — Application hosting and content delivery.
- Resend — Transactional email delivery.
- Sentry — Error tracking and stack-trace capture.
- PostHog — Product analytics and session replay (with input fields and prose surfaces masked).
- Intercom — Customer support messenger and AI agent.
- Better Stack — Uptime monitoring and status page.
- Cloudflare — DNS and basic edge services.
- API.Bible (when applicable) — Scripture translation lookups for permitted commercial translations.
For details on what data each provider receives, see our Privacy Policy.
AI Output Disclaimer
OpusDraft uses AI technology to assist with writing and editing. AI-generated content is provided “AS IS” without warranty of any kind. We make no representations regarding the accuracy, quality, originality, or fitness for any purpose of AI-generated output.
You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and taking responsibility for any content you publish or distribute that was assisted by AI tools within the Service.
AI models may produce unexpected, inaccurate, or inconsistent results. The canon enforcement, rule packs, and verification systems within OpusDraft reduce but do not eliminate the possibility of AI errors.
Canon Enforcement Limitations
While our canon enforcement tools are a core feature of the Service, we do not warrant that they will catch every possible inconsistency, violation, or error in your manuscript. You remain responsible for the final review and accuracy of your work.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Generate content that is illegal, defamatory, or infringes on third-party rights.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or extract OpusDraft’s prompts, canon enforcement logic, or AI orchestration systems.
- Share your account credentials with others.
- Use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair it.
- Violate Anthropic’s usage policies through the BYOK integration.
- Generate content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers minors.
- Generate content that solicits or encourages violence against individuals or groups.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Subscription, Billing, and Sales Tax
Subscriptions are billed monthly in U.S. dollars. All subscription fees are non-refundable except as required by law or as expressly stated in writing. Payment processing is handled by Stripe; OpusDraft does not store your payment card information.
We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable advance notice. Continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
Sales tax. OpusDraft collects sales tax on subscriptions where required by law. Beginning June 15, 2026, OpusDraft is registered to collect Louisiana state and local sales tax on subscriptions to customers with a Louisiana ship-to address (registration on file with the Louisiana Department of Revenue). Sales tax is calculated automatically by Stripe at checkout and shown on each invoice. As tax obligations evolve in additional jurisdictions, OpusDraft will register and collect accordingly without further notice in these Terms.
Cancellation and downgrade. You may cancel your subscription at any time from the Stripe customer portal accessible via the Billing page. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period; you retain access until that date. Downgrades to a lower-priced tier also take effect at the end of the current period.
Instant Mode Free Trial
During the Instant Mode trial, AI tool requests are processed by Anthropic under OpusDraft’s own account. By using the trial you acknowledge that:
- Your prompts and generated outputs are transmitted to Anthropic and are subject to Anthropic’s usage policies and data practices, independent of these Terms.
- The trial is capped at a rolling per-user usage limit (currently 50 successful AI calls per rolling 24-hour window) and a fixed total duration (currently 3 days from your first AI call). Caps and duration are not guaranteed and may change without notice.
- Only one Instant Mode trial is offered per account and per person. Creating additional accounts to extend the trial — including through alternate email addresses, aliases, or synonym providers — constitutes a material breach of these Terms and may result in suspension or termination of all associated accounts.
- After the trial ends, continued use of the AI tools requires a valid Claude API key (BYOK) as described in Section 03, or an active paid subscription that includes AI access under the applicable plan’s terms. Non-AI features of the Service (your writing, canon, rule packs, exports, and publishing) remain accessible to you regardless of trial status.
- OpusDraft reserves the right to throttle, suspend, or revoke Instant Mode access in response to abuse, excessive consumption, automated usage, or any conduct that imposes a disproportionate burden on the shared key.
Nothing in this Section creates an entitlement to continued trial access, to any specific cap or duration, or to any particular AI model.
Promotional, Beta, and Gift Codes
OpusDraft may, from time to time, issue invitation, beta, gift, trial-extension, upgrade, or other promotional codes (“Codes”) at our discretion. Codes are issued under the following terms:
- Single-use and non-transferable. Each Code is redeemable once, by a single account, and may not be sold, gifted, or transferred to a third party for value without OpusDraft’s express written consent.
- No cash value. Codes have no cash value, are not refundable, and may not be combined with other promotional offers unless explicitly stated.
- Subject to revocation. OpusDraft reserves the right to revoke any Code, before or after redemption, in cases of abuse, fraud, account-sharing, automated redemption, or any conduct that violates these Terms. Revocation may include termination of the access or grant the Code provided.
- Discretionary continuation. Promotional offers, including Codes that grant tier upgrades or extended trials, are courtesies and may be modified, paused, or discontinued at any time without notice.
- Eligibility. Some Code types (including but not limited to trial-extension and tier-upgrade Codes) are available only to existing OpusDraft account holders and are redeemed inside the Service after sign-in. OpusDraft is not responsible for Codes lost in transit or improperly distributed by third parties.
Indemnification and Hold Harmless
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless OpusDraft, LLC, its members, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses — including reasonable legal fees — arising out of or in any way connected with:
- Your use of the Service.
- Your violation of these Terms.
- Your API key usage and associated costs.
- Content you create, upload, or publish using the Service.
- Your violation of any third-party rights.
Limitation of Liability
We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, creative work, or business opportunities, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on liability. In those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Termination
You may cancel your account at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service for violation of these Terms, non-payment, abuse of the Instant Mode trial or promotional Codes, or any other reason at our discretion with reasonable notice.
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Service ceases.
- You are responsible for exporting any content you wish to retain before termination.
- Outstanding subscription periods that have already been billed are not refunded except as required by law.
- We may retain certain records (billing, audit logs, security incident logs) as required by law or for legitimate business purposes; see our Privacy Policy for retention details.
